Borrowed & Blue Q + A!
Honey & Twine Weddings and Events’ Q&A with Borrowed & Blue
If you’re looking for a wedding planner, look no further. Borrowed and Blue, a locally-focused online wedding resource, teamed up with Honey & Twine Weddings and Events for an in-depth interview to give couples a closer look into our event planning services.
Here’s our Q&A with Borrowed & Blue:
If you could possibly narrow it down, what would be your favorite moment of a wedding day?
Ah! There are so many great moments that make up the day. One of my favorites would have to be the couple’s first dance. By now, any stress or worry they may have had has been eased and they are just loving their special moment together. It’s when we know that our work has been done right and get to enjoy the love and happiness that is written on their faces.
Describe your event aesthetic in three words.
While we design weddings catered to each unique couple, my favorite style has always been a combination of vintage, intimacy and elegance. Less can always be more, and we enjoy creating a style that feels personal and timeless—while always keeping it classy.
The first thing you ask when you sit down with a couple?
I always start with asking them how everything is going. While they are usually newly engaged, they are also suddenly very aware that they need to plan a wedding, and some couples come to me already stressed! This helps us both start on the same page, and with a check in on how they feel in these moments. I find it eases couples right away to get any stress, out of the way so that we can enjoy the rest of our meetings.
Top three pieces of advice for couples who just got engaged?
Take time to enjoy what’s coming! While at times the stress can pile up, this is a beautiful journey that isn’t to be forgotten or looked over. Enjoy every tasting you attend, choosing the music to represent you and your fiance, and most of all, take the whole day in! It’s easy to let the day consume you and we are here to help make sure that doesn’t happen. It’s one of the best days of your life—let’s make sure you remember every detail!
Plan your needs first. I’ve found that many couples get caught up on things that other people want, and what might be expected as the right thing to do. This is your special day! Ignore all the things you’ve heard about, and choose the details and plans that will make you happiest on your wedding day! Everyone else will enjoy the day you put together, because at the end of it all, they are there for you.
Don’t forget the reason behind it all. While we are be busy planning the wedding, it’s easy to forget we are planning a celebration of you and your fiance and the first day of your future. Behind all the plans and details, it’s about the two of you. Go on dates, enjoy the engagement! Don’t get too caught up on what’s being planned and forget that the best part is what comes after the wedding day.
Your thoughts on DIY weddings?
Pinterest fools many of us that think we can DIY through everything, but sometimes we just can’t. Many brides go into their wedding wanting to be a part of the creative aspect and make their own signage, favors, decor, etc. The problem is, especially with a high guest count, they misjudge the amount of time and money that it will actually take! Not to mention the frustration if it doesn’t turn out to look just like the picture. If you’re going to DIY, make sure it’s something doable and have it well thought out. Otherwise, let’s find a third party that can get it done quickly and at a better cost!
What would your ideal wedding colors be?
I love the look that comes with simple off white linens, light greenery for the florals, and a slight pop of color. Whether it’s a nice hue of orange, or a bright red—the simplicity mixed with a vibrant color looks great in any season!
The most important part of wedding planning?
At Honey & Twine, we believe the most important part of planning a wedding is making sure to plan a day that represents the couple getting married. We want the welcome table to be a look at the two of you together, the favor to represent something special that you want your guests to take with them, and for all your guests to look around and feel the love from great relationship that they are celebrating!
